Even newer content they have changed the known history of the WoD, not to mention getting rid of clans by clumping them into one clan, and getting rid of unique disciplines. Stick with Vampire 20th if you truly want to see what the world of darkness has to offer not this diluted and fairly poorly written edition.
It is incorrect to say that any Clans have been gotten rid of, or that they have been clumped together. They have merely introduced the core seven Clans from the original game in the core rules. I've been playing this version now for about 6 months. There's a few things to keep in mind about this edition of the game.
White Wolf went bankrupt, and was sold off to Paradox. White Wolf was shuttered last year because it handled a real world situation very insensitively in the Camarilla source book.
Despite what you might hear, this line is still very much alive; a new book, "Cults of the Blood Gods" was just announced today with a kickstarter campaign. The release schedule is somewhat slow though because Paradox is making sure the the insensitivity that caused the shuttering of White Wolf is not repeated. The metaplot though is moving things back towards the the original World of Darkness metaplot with the exception of the Antediluvians.
This version is riding the wave of RPG style that is popular in the Scandinavian countries, which See more is more visceral emotionally. The game play is more geared towards those cathartic moments as well as emotional conflict, both internal to the character as well as externally in how the characters deal with emotionally charged events.
The rules as written are designed to promote that emotional conflict. You will be disappointed. You will only recognize the metaplot. If you are willing to suspend that this-isn't-what-I-remember mindset, and consider the game for what it is, there is the possibility you will enjoy the game. It still has the same basic feel of the old game; the mechanics are really the only thing that's changed.
